Scope of the Role
We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join our team on a one-year fixed-term contract, covering a maternity leave. Based in London this position offers the chance to collaborate closely with the Head of Finance. The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing strategic financial guidance to the management team.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Oversee all areas of financial accounting of control, including financial accounting, treasury, systems, and finance transactions
- Lead the preparation and submission of management accounts, payroll processing and VAT returns
- Ensuring accurate and current financial ledgers
- Coordinate procurement activities
- Coordinate and manage external audit processes, ensuring timely and accuratecompletion
- Prepare audit schedules, provide necessary documentation, and address auditorqueries
- Provide the management committee and EXCO with financial reporting vital to thedecision-making process
- Oversee regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance
- Evaluate accounting and internal control systems and governance
- Ensure compliance with applicable rules, laws, and regulations
- Fulfil additional ad hoc duties are required to meet the needs of the business
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
- Qualified with 3-4 years post qualification experience
Preferred Skills
- Able to present financial information clearly and concisely with great insight
- A strong understanding of financial accounting, VAT, and the preparation of financial reports
- Held a similar position with ability to report to EXCO if required
- An ability to and proactively solve problems
- Ability to meet strict reporting deadlines & proactively manage workload
- Demonstration of honesty, integrity and good reputation
- Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills and ability to interpret and summarise/present varied data
- Advanced excel skills
