About Pocket Protector:Ā

Pocket Protector is a social trading bot backed by Electric Capital and Dragonfly that enables you to trade with friends and discover + follow new top traders. Our social-focused features make trading more engaging and profitable, helping our traders discover alpha, ape rapidly, and avoid rugs. We’re growing virally from group to group and from Twitter through word-of-mouth spread right now with 4x retention compared to other trading bots.Ā

Our founding team spent 5+ years in product and engineering roles during the early days of Facebook/Amazon, then raised a combined $25M+ from top web2 VCs including Founder’s Fund, Greylock, and Y-Combinator. All 3 startups we founded were acquired by a combination of private equity, startups, and big tech. In crypto we were first money in on over half a dozen $1B+ crypto projects beginning in 2017, and also ran a crypto hedge fund that consistently outperformed BTC across multiple cycles.Ā

Our vision is to build a social trading exchange for crypto. We believe that discovering and trading in crypto has always been inherently social, and by leaning into this we can build a better exchange. By connecting traders with each other, leveraging reputation and status to reinforce trust, and by enabling trading to be safer, faster, and more profitable with friends - we believe we can build a new, dominant social trading exchange.Ā

We are looking for a Founding Software Engineer with experience building scaled consumer products and in crypto on Solana. If you have a passion for consumer products, blockchain and social, we’d love to hear from you!Ā

Responsibilities:Ā

  • Work closely with the CEO to support the vision, mission and guiding principles of the company
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable and reliable backend infrastructure
  • Identify bottlenecks and optimize performance of our services to handle increasing traffic and load
  • Develop monitoring and alerting systems to maintain high levels of system availability and performance
  • Continuously improve system architecture, security, and best practices to stay up-to-date with industry standards

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in backend development and infrastructure engineering
  • Strong understanding of blockchain technology, particularly the Solana ecosystem
  • Proficient in programming languages such as Javascript and Rust
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (GCP, AWS) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Knowledge of database technologies (SQL, Cloud Firestore)

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary and equity package
  • Generous vacation and time-off policy
  • Opportunities for personal and professional growth in a fast-paced, dynamic industry

What does a back-end developer in Web3 do?

A back-end developer in web3 typically works on the server-side of a web application, using technologies that are specific to the decentralized web (also known as Web3-related)

This might involve building and maintaining the infrastructure that supports decentralized applications (dApps), or developing the underlying smart contracts and blockchain-based systems that power those dApps

In general, the goal of a back-end developer in web3 is to create the technologies and tools that enable users to interact with the decentralized web in a secure and seamless way.
