Who are we?
We believe Ethereum has the potential to solve some of humanity’s most crucial coordination issues. Since our initial inception as a research group, we have sought to scale both its technology and values.
At present, the most pressing bottleneck to the growth of Ethereum is its performance and scalability. We are building the most elegant solution to this problem. We do this in the open (under an MIT open source license) because we believe in open source innovation and its ability to accelerate growth.
OP Labs contributes to the Optimism protocol, an extension to Ethereum that scales both its technology and values. Optimism enables orders of magnitude of improved performance and scalability to Ethereum while doubling down on its commitment to public goods.
The Optimism Collective leads the blockchain protocol landscape, dedicated to fostering a scalable and sustainable ecosystem. Optimism’s ethos, in sync with Ethereum's vision, tackles pivotal coordination challenges of the digital age. Optimism’s goal is to harmonize private incentives with public good, shaping a resilient future for the Internet. Optimism’s scope spans diverse areas like Gaming, DeFi, NFTs, and Enterprise.
Position Overview:
We’re looking for a technical PM to join our Platform team and drive our smart contract security efforts. In this role, you’ll help grow the Superchain by ensuring that protocol developers can safely deploy, upgrade and manage their smart contracts, which form the most security-critical parts of the OP Stack and the protocol that powers Optimism. You’ll work closely with engineers, other product managers, and our security team.
What you’ll do:
Work closely with engineers on our EVM Safety team to ideate, scope and deliver platforms and tools for secure smart contract deployment
Go deep on highly technical products (e.g., OP Contracts Manager) and manage their roll out, monitoring and success strategies
Conduct user research with protocol developers, the Optimism Security Council, and other security stakeholders to understand security and usability needs
What we’re looking for:
4+ years of product management experience
Proven track record of working on products in adversarial or security-critical environments
Deep strategic thinking coupled with clear, pithy writing
Hands-on experience with technical products – previous experience as software engineer is excellent but not required
Prior experience with the EVM is nice-to-have but required as long as you are keen to learn new things and can ramp up quickly
What will you like about us?
We take care of our employees. Competitive compensation, fully paid medical, dental, and vision, and a 4% 401K match—learn more about our benefits, culture, and all recruiting FAQ here.
We take pride in the accomplishments of our teammates and support each other in doing the best work of our careers.
Our team is a diverse group of people from varied backgrounds. We cherish our eclecticism and consider it a great strength.
We’re fully remote, deeply engaged, highly skilled, and like to have fun.
We think long-term. Our founders have been scaling Ethereum since 2015.
How do I get a job at DeFi?
Getting a job in the DeFi (decentralized finance) industry can be a competitive process, but there are a few steps you can take to increase your chances of finding a job in this field:
- Build up your skills and knowledge: To work in DeFi, you'll likely need to have a strong understanding of blockchain technology, as well as other related technologies such as smart contracts and cryptocurrency. Consider taking online courses or earning a degree in a relevant field to build up your skills and knowledge.
- Network with industry professionals: Attend meetups and conferences related to DeFi and make connections with professionals in the industry. Networking can be a valuable way to learn about job openings and get your foot in the door at a DeFi company.
- Create a strong online presence: Many DeFi companies will look at your online presence (such as your LinkedIn profile and personal website) when considering you for a job. Make sure to showcase your skills and accomplishments online and keep your profile up to date.
- Apply for relevant job openings: Keep an eye out for job openings at DeFi companies and apply for positions that align with your skills and experience. Apply for DeFi Jobs without Experience. Tailor your resume and cover letter to the specific job you're applying for and highlight any relevant experience or skills you have.
- Consider internships or volunteer work: DeFi Internships or volunteer work can be a great way to get your foot in the door and gain valuable experience in the DeFi industry. Many companies also offer internships to students, so consider applying for an internship if you're still in school.
- Be persistent: keep trying if you don't get a job right away. It can take time to find the right opportunity, but with the right skills and determination, you can land a job in the DeFi industry.
