Ondo Finance is building a DeFi protocol providing a suite of decentralized investment banking products and services to connect institutional investors and token issuers. We have just scratched the surface of opportunity in DeFi with services like lending, trading, and basic derivatives. We see a huge opportunity to bring a wider array of products from traditional finance to DeFi and create new financial primitives. Our first products are structured finance instruments that enable risk-mitigated or leveraged single-asset yield-generating positions, as well as provide liquidity-as-a-service (LaaS) to other crypto projects and select DAO’s.

Our product team is building web applications enabling people to access and interact with complex investment products across multiple blockchains. We're also building scalable tooling to support users ranging from small investors to sophisticated crypto hedge funds, as well as promote security and trust for our community. As a senior designer on the team, you'll help lead some of these development efforts, as well as shape the design process and roadmap.

"Genesis is excited to support Ondo Finance as both an investor and strategic partner. We believe Ondo will help bridge capital between the institutional world and the crypto market — an evolution that we think is vital to continued growth in DeFi.”
— Matthew Ballensweig, Head of Institutional Lending at Genesis

What you'll achieve:

    • Partner closely with product and engineering to drive product strategy
    • Own and provide an excellent end-to-end user journey (from idea, prototyping, testing to shipping)
    • Illustrate design ideas using storyboards and process flows
    • Create clear graphics to accompany complex technical documentation

What we offer:

    • Competitive compensation including salary, future token rights, and/or equity (according to your preferences) — we're well-funded and believe that great talent deserves great compensation
    • Full benefits (medical, vision, and dental) and flexible vacation policy (PTO)
    • Small remote-first team across many countries — you'll be an early team member helping shape our vision, culture, and design practices
    • A+ colleagues — our team includes alumni from Goldman Sachs Digital Assets, Facebook, DeFi protocols like BadgerDAO, private equity funds, hedge funds, and various VC-backed startups
    • Best-in-class investors — we are proud to be backed by leading crypto experts (incl. founders of Aave, Quantstamp, and Anchorage) and funds (incl. Pantera, Genesis, DCG, Coin Fund, and CMS)

What we're looking for:

    • Partial daily overlap with EST — typically this means you're located in the Americas, Europe, or Africa, unless you're willing to work unusual hours
    • Demonstrated interest in crypto / web3 — building, investing, yield farming, minting, voting, or whatever excites you in the space
    • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in UI/UX design roles
    • Proficiency in modern design tools (e.g. Figma, Sketch)
    • Proactively drive continuous user research and systematic feedback evaluation
    • Experience working cross-functionally with engineering and product
"Fixed income remains the missing piece that decentralized finance needs to go mainstream. Ondo unlocks downside protection and relative certainty in forecasting returns for institutional investors looking to allocate to the attractive yields in the DeFi space. We are excited to back the Ondo team in their mission to bridge the worlds of DeFi and institutional finance."
— Paul Veradittakit, Partner at Pantera Capital

What does a product designer do?

A product designer is responsible for creating and designing the physical and visual aspects of a product, with the aim of enhancing its functionality, usability, and aesthetics

This involves a broad range of tasks, such as researching and analyzing customer needs, designing user interfaces, creating sketches and prototypes, testing and refining designs, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the final product meets the intended user needs and business goals

A product designer must have a deep understanding of design principles, materials, manufacturing processes, and technological advancements in order to create products that are both innovative and functional

They must also have excellent communication skills, as they work closely with engineers, marketing teams, and other stakeholders to ensure that the product is developed on time, within budget, and meets the desired quality standards

Product designers work in a variety of industries, such as consumer electronics, furniture, automotive, fashion, and healthcare, to name a few

They may work for large corporations, small businesses, or as freelance designers, and often collaborate with other designers, engineers, and manufacturers to bring their designs to life

In web3, a product designer is responsible for designing and creating decentralized applications (dApps) and other products that leverage blockchain technology, smart contracts, and decentralized networks

This involves understanding the unique technical and functional requirements of web3 products, as well as the principles of decentralization, transparency, and user ownership

Web3 product designers need to be familiar with blockchain technology, smart contract programming languages, and decentralized networks, in order to design products that can operate effectively in a decentralized environment

They need to be able to work with developers and other stakeholders to ensure that the product is designed in a way that maximizes user control and ownership, while minimizing the potential for fraud or malicious activity

Web3 product designers may work on a range of products, such as decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms, non-fungible token (NFT) marketplaces, decentralized social networks, and more

They may also work closely with blockchain developers, economists, and other specialists to create products that are both innovative and practical, while maintaining a strong focus on user experience.
