Company Description

Tracr™, a Forbes Blockchain 50 venture, is enhancing trust within the diamond industry by assuring provenance, traceability and authenticity of natural diamonds from their country of origin through the entire value chain to the end consumer.

Initiated by The De Beers Group, Tracr is the only end-to-end industry platform built collaboratively with the diamond industry to connect the value chain, foster a culture of innovation, and enhance business practices. Above the Tracr Platform an ecosystem of business services and insights are being developed that will create new and sustainable sources of value for the industry.

Tracr provides the industry with the ability to better communicate the story of a diamond and substantiate the positive sustainability and local economic development stories to the end consumer.

Job Description

The DevOps team at Tracr is responsible for enabling our Engineering team to work quickly, effectively and securely – freeing them up from the detail of platform configuration, enabling them to self-service their technical requirements and allowing them to focus on the business logic necessary for Tracr to succeed in its mission to trace natural diamonds from source to consumer.

In the role of Senior Dev Ops Engineer your key responsibilities will be,

  • Build and maintain a cloud compute platform (AWS EKS) which allows for the self-service maintenance of highly available, performant business services.
  • Run and secure our public cloud (AWS), consuming all appropriate managed services and controlling our costs appropriately.
  • Take accountability for the security of our platform – both in a shift-left scenario in our builds (GitlabCI, Mend) but also by using AWS native tools at runtime to minimise the risk of damaging security incidents.
  • Design appropriate software and infrastructure architecture to enable Tracr to present a reliable, performant service.
  • Create software and scripts which help to automate away toil on behalf of our Engineering team.
  • Write Infrastructure as Code to ensure our environments remain consistent and configuration is correctly maintained.
  • Dig into the configuration and code of our software services (largely Python, Rust, Typescript and Solidity) and assist in recovering from incidents.
  • Maintain a cloud-native container ecosystem and ensure the 12 factor methodology is applied to our microservice-based architecture.
  • Use and maintain a state-of-the-art Observability stack (Cloudwatch, Groundcover) allowing us to interrogate the health of our platform, maintain service levels and quickly locate and remediate issues
  • Author and bring best practice to Tracr’s CI/CD workflows and tooling and use Gitops techniques to ensure consistent state (GitlabCI, ArgoCD).
  • Ensure compliance with important standards such as ISO27001.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in SME or larger enterprises campaigning best DevOps practices and building highly performant, secure platforms.
  • Qualifications might include ‘AWS Solutions Architect’, ‘AWS DevOps Professional’,  ‘Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)’, or ‘Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)’ – however we value real-world experience over badges on LinkedIn (while respecting those who have achieved those goals).
  • A strong results-driven mindset, paired with exceptional analytical and time management skills.
  • A curious approach to understanding the Tracr business, with a genuine eagerness to learn more.
  • Proven ability to manage and balance multiple projects effectively and simultaneously.
  • A highly collaborative nature is essential to succeed in DevOps at Tracr – we must remain heavily aligned with the wider Engineering organisation and be best placed to support their requirements but also guide in the direction of best practice.
  • Experience in the following technologies is preferred but not essential, Kubernetes, AWS, Containers, Linux, Gitlab, Python, Bash, ArgoCD, Terraform, Terragrunt, Atlantis, Groundcover, Cloudwatch, Aurora, Rabbit, Eventbridge, SQS, S3, IAM, Cloudflare, Mend, Helm, Git, JIRA, Confluence, Google Suite, Pagerduty.
